Rhodes preschool originally began at what is now the Youth and Community Centre at Kelvin Avenue. In 1984 we moved to the old Little Heaton School situated on Broad Street. A classroom was converted for our needs. When the new school was built on Boardman Lane the old school building on Broad Street was sold. (After many changes the school has now become sheltered housing accommodation).
After much protest the preschool also had to vacate the Broad Street building. A long campaign was launched and Rochdale council was pressed to provide new premises. After much hard work the land and the building now known as Rhodes Preschool was obtained. The building is now solely used as a Preschool to serve the community and surrounding areas.
