Job Description

The purpose of this role is to evolve and develop the business in the Merchant sector with a view to maximising sales by increasing the companies brand awareness and improving relationships with key customers.

Reporting to the National Sales Manager: Merchants and Multiples.

1. Main tasks
a. Undertake merchandising for merchant customers.
• Communicate ideal stock profile to customers
• Ensure products are merchandised correctly
• Stock replenishment
• Deliver and install POS solutions
• Deliver product literature.

b. Deliver product training to yard and counter staff
• Deliver product presentations to customer branch staff, informing them of key Urban + Landscape product features and benefits, product accessories and how to install and sell
these products.

c. Undertake branch audits
• Product ranging audit
• Merchandising audit – Planogram layout
• Pricing audit
• Branch manager survey.

d. Standard Reports
• Branch visit report to be compiled for each customer and logged on paraphor
• Summary of total branch visits for each customer, information given to sales for key customer contact meetings.

2. Authorities, responsibilities
Responsible for preparing customer branch visit timeplan, liaising with branch managers to agree these dates.
Championing and upholding, by word and deed, the values of and the Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality policies.

3. Communication
External: Distributors (Merchant Branch Staff)
Internal: The Channel Product Manager, the Commercial Director and Sales teams, and the Marketing team.

4. Education Marketing and/or Business Studies qualifications (Preferred but not essential)

5. Knowledge
Understanding of business to business and end user marketing principles is preferred.
Understanding of the merchanting sector is a must.
A good knowledge of merchandising principles.
Demonstrable ability to deal with customer enquiries and recommend solutions.
Proven planning skills.

Whilst this role is based at the Head Office in Shefford, Bedfordshire, it requires travel throughout the UK and regular overnight stays. A Company Van will be provided for business use. Remuneration will be based on experience.
