Design Engineer (CAD package – Autodesk Inventor)

Location – Hull

Salary – Negotiable

Our client is a market leader and having experienced continued success now have opportunities for highly competent Design Engineer’s to join our Design & Development team to advance our development processes to assist taking the market sector to new levels of excellence.

Design Engineer

Reporting to the design team leader, the design engineer will produce efficient solutions to the development of processes and products, ranging from small furniture designs to the structural design of the product.. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing innovative and strong aesthetic designs for our new product ranges.

The design engineer will work in a design team on a project from the initial brief, through the design and development stage, bill of materials and drawing release, right through to final manufacture and post production testing.

Typical work activities

¦developing and implementing cost-effective designs to improve aesthetic quality, safety, reliability and production throughput;
¦evaluating design solutions and new products to produce innovate designs.
¦discussing and solving complex problems with manufacturing departments, purchasing engineers, suppliers and customers;
¦ensuring ease and reliability of manufacture
¦ensuring a design will perform consistently in its specified operating environments, and to all specifications and standards.
¦recommend modifications following design reviews and the first production build.
¦using research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly mathematical modelling and computer-aided design;
¦considering the implications of issues such as cost, safety and time constraints;

¦Good knowledge of production processes and constraints, creating designs which are easy to manufacture.
¦CAD/CAM Knowledge
¦BOM Creation and management
¦Drawing and BOM checking procedures
¦Ability to produce modular designs and standardisation to maximise design reuse throughout a product range.
¦Develop configuration options as a plug and play design.
¦Mathematical calculation and analysis
¦Strong 3D CAD knowledge
¦Ability to design and model complex shapes
¦Drafting to recognised standards (BS8888)
