Job Description

This position is permanent nights. To perform maintenance on the vehicles as detailed on the daily work card system. It is imperative that this schedule is maintained at all times to assure that the fleet is always in proper repair.

To assist in the diagnosis of mechanical problems and repairs and schedule work in accordance with the Fleet Engineer and Company's requirements.

To diagnose problems and repairs brakes, transmissions, clutches, hydraulics systems, valves, pumps, and electrical problems.
To weld equipment as and when needed.
Maintains file cards on Company Vehicles.
To assist in routine oil changes, tyre rotation, fluid changes, battery inspections, electrical system testing, brake inspections and replacement etc.
Job sheets must be completely filled in with accurate information as the maintenance is performed and submitted to the Fleet Engineer.
Maintain service repair orders on each vehicle accurately, to be able to track comebacks on services that have been preformed.
To assist in the repair of any and all mechanical breakdowns. In the event that a vehicle breaks down while it is in service, the mechanic may be required to work with the Fleet Engineer to try and resolve the problem and if necessary go to the vehicle to perform repairs.
To liaise with the Fleet Engineer on parts to be ordered and to maintain stock.
Checks and schedules work in line with the Fleet Engineer.
Responsible for the clean up of the garage ensuring it is in a clean and safe manner at all times. Oil spills; fluids and all debris must be cleaned immediately.
All vehicles, which are to continue having repairs overnight, must be properly supported and any part must be secured.
The mechanic is required to provide his or her own tools and toolbox. All tools must be put away and secured at the end of their shift.
Any other reasonable request associated with your role or department.
