Job Description

Overview
Our client, a specialist subsea consultancy, are looking to recruit 2 Project Engineers to join their existing design team on a permanent basis. This role has been created due to continued growth within the business which has made room for new members of the team. The successful candidate will be required to provide engineering design and support functions and to manage design projects in relation to both Mechanical and Electrical design. Candidates must be chartered and be degree qualified within a Mechanical / Electrical discipline within a demonstrable background working within a design environment. You will also ideally have experience working with both AutoCAD and Solidworks. Successful candidates will have numerous direct reports, therefore candidates who has managed a team in previous roles would be at an advantage.

Role Description
•To manage multidisciplinary design projects.
•Monitor the spend of budgeted engineering hours.
•Work with the R & D Department for the generation of ideas for developments and new products.
•To instruct and train more subordinate engineering staff.
•Produce design specifications and documentation to ISO 9001.
•To provide technical support to the production, logistics and integration departments.
•To actively assist sales and marketing in the preparation of quotes and proposals.
•Offsite engineering support for new build and existing products.
•Assist in the preparation of operating and maintenance manuals.

Technical Competencies: A mix of electrical and mechanical skills is desirable
Electrical
•Electric motor design and specification
•HV Power distribution and protection equipment
•Variable speed drives and soft starts.
•Wiring distribution systems.
•Communication systems and protocols.
•Industry sensors and equipment.
•Fibre optic multiplexors and ancillaries.
•Design of analogue and digital electronic circuits and PCB design
•PCB manufacturing, standards and prototyping.

Mechanical
•Completing, checking and approving mechanical design..
•Good knowledge of manufacturing techniques, welding, painting, machining, cutting, folding. and NDT requirements
•Material processing.
•Good theoretical understanding of material science for sub-sea use including galvanic and corrosion effects
•Familiar with inspection, testing and certification requirements
•Mechanisms and Kinematics
•Power transmission
•Assembly and maintenance
•Knowledge of oil and gas hydraulics.
•Mechanical Experience Sealing systems: o rings, seals, hydraulic fittings etc.
•Knowledge of Ergonomics

Qualifications & Skills
• Degree Qualified in an Mechanical/ Electrical Discipline
• Candidates must be Chartered ( CEng)
• Previous experience with AutoCAD / Solidworks
• Previous experience working within a Senior role overseeing / managing multiple staff
• Happy to travel as required
