Job Description

Dudley Child Recruitment are working with a global organisation operating in many related power generation industries providing maintenance and repair services. Very well established and highly reputable, this organisation has a wide range of clients within their portfolio and provides high levels of customer service and technical support.

Due to continued growth and success, we are currently recruiting a Works Manager who will be based at a London site to manage, control and supervise all operational activities of the Workshop, including the scheduling and coordination of the flow of work between the departments (including the office) to ensure effective production to time budgetary targets.

The Role

The Workshop Manager will assist the Branch Manager with the overall running of the Branch which will include leading, managing and mentoring the departmental supervisors and upholding long term customer relationships that have been established by the Customer Service Representatives.

You will also assist the Branch Manager in the recruitment, training, development, performance management, discipline, motivation and safe working practices of workshop staff and identify training needs for workshop staff and ensure workshop staff are kept up to date with all Work Instructions. You will also be responsible for (but not limited to);

• Documenting jobs to include health and safety compliance and quality assurance
• Quoting and estimating of job to the level designated by the Branch Manager
• Contract reviews on customers' acceptance of quotations
• Understand the work flow in each section of the Branch and work with Section Supervisors in the scheduling of jobs and allocation of resources
• Control the flow of jobs through the workshop including; scheduling, priorities, progress updates and productivity
• Review of master production schedule and work orders in progress meetings
• Revision of production schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities and the availability and capability of workers, parts, materials, machines and equipment

The Person

The successful candidate will have completed a technical apprenticeship working on electrical rotating machinery and have proven management/supervisory experience in a service related industry with technical knowledge of electrical rotating equipment. Due to the nature of the role you will possess excellent communication skills.
