Apprentice IT Support Technician

Location: Wolverhampton WV3 9QB

Job Type: 15-18 months Apprenticeship depending on requirement for functional skills

Salary: GBP150 per week / GBP7,800 per annum

- National minimum wage for age payable after 12 months


Working Week: 37.5 hours per week, specific hours to be determined prior to appointment

Please note that this role is located at St Hugh`s School in Oxfordshire, however Concero UK Ltd have a Midlands based HQ. There may be a requirement to travel on to Concero UK on occasion for training and professional development opportunities. Therefore, a full driving license and use of own vehicle is desirable.

Enhanced DBS checks will be undertaken along with the usual reference checks.

Responsibilities:

Working for Concero Uk Ltd to act as a first line support technician in a newly formed technical team based at St Hugh`s School in Oxfordshire. This role will be diverse and exciting, offering a perfect foundation for a future career in the IT or education industries.

The successful apprentice will increase the use of technology in schools by ensuring all hardware devices are well maintained and also to ensure that staff, pupils and parents are supported in the use of technology to enhance learning.

This will involve carrying out the following duties:

- Resolve problems associated with operating systems, networks, software, hardware, printers etc.
- Service desk support- diagnosis of IT issues and supporting users remotely using remote connection tools.
- Installation of new software and hardware
- Maintain and fix other computing equipment
- Assist in system upgrades and system maintenance
- Liaise with third party suppliers such as Internet Service Providers and vendors
- Support with technology asset management
- In co-operation with teachers, they will also support the teaching of computing and the embedding of technology across the curriculum by preparing relevant materials and working alongside pupils, parents and teachers. This might also involve running extra-curricular activities such as coding clubs, mini-geek squad, Minecraft club and Lego club.


The apprentice will be based full time on-site responsible for the lower level IT issues that arise, supported by Primary Goal as a training provider and the Concero team of IT support technicians.

Training to be provided by Primary Goal:

- Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship Standard (Networking and Architecture, Mobile and Operating Systems & Security, Cloud Services, Coding and Logic, Business Processes)
- Comprehensive digital pre-apprenticeship induction programme (including health and safety, safeguarding, PREVENT, technical and curriculum specifics)
- e-learning training materials
- Specialist vendor and technical certificates
- Access to practice labs to develop technical competency
- Monthly assessor contact and competency checks
- Support desk (technical and pastoral)
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills and Key Skills development
- Employment Rights and Responsibilities module
- Functional Skills in Maths and English (if required)
