Job Title - Assistant Operations Manager

Organisational Responsibilities

Report to - The Operations Manager

Main Purpose Of The Role -
To take responsibility for the site and production facility during the night shift
hours. To ensure that all production targets, quality and hygiene standards are met.
Primary Tasks -
To keep the Bakery Management fully informed of matters which may affect the future
performance of the bakery in their area of responsibility.
To take responsibility for the efficient usage of all ingredients, plant and labour and for
producing the correct order / requested levels
To maintain adequate personal contact with immediate subordinates to maintain quality and
quantity production in accordance with customer requirements and other planned
commitments.
To ensure through contact with the management team the maintenance of good industrial
relations, morale, assertive management and discipline on the shift.
To ensure the Health, Safety and Welfare of all staff by ensuring that the shift staff maintain
a safe working environment and safe working practices' To plan and recommend staff development and training.
To train staff as required in Health and Safety, Quality and Hygiene, and to ensure that staff
carry out their duties correctly and to the company standards in these areas.
To carry out company briefings to staff and to report back to Management any employee
comments.
To ensure completion of due diligence paperwork regarding the legality and product safety, of
all products in the immediate work area'
To ensure the company's routines and procedures are followed when selecting, on the job
inducting and training of new employees.
To carry out accident investigations when required which involve shift employees.
To carry out any other reasonable role as deemed necessary and within the bakery, including
deputising for the Operations Manager as required.
Key Result Areas
To investigate where necessary improved production techniques
To complete and submit quality, production reports and engineering records
To keep the Operations Manager adequately informed of current and anticipated items
affecting or likely to affect efficient production and quality standards on the night shift.
To recommend and where agreed, implement any changes necessary to maintain and improve
morale and efficiency on the night shift.
To examine all results in areas of responsibility and report on reasons for variances.
To look after the health, safety and welfare of self and others who may be affected by job
holders actions or omissions and to be conversant with and to comply with all company rules
and procedures regarding Health and Safety.
To ensure food safety and legality of products on the night shift.
