Assistant Web Developer in , Herefordshire

Applying for the Assistant Web Developer role

The origins of Orphans Press, as commercial printers in Herefordshire, date back to 1873 and the acquisition by Leominster's orphanage of a printing press to both generate income and provide a trade for some of the orphans. 130 plus years on we would like to think the business has continued through a similar inclination to forward thinking. Perhaps it helps that for much of our history we have been family owned retaining many core values inherent in the precise manual print setting methods of yesteryear. In recent years we have recognised that commercial printing is now just one of a spectrum of communication tools so we have chosen to broaden our business base from "commercial litho printers' to embrace related design, digital printing and internet services. This offers real benefits to our customers who themselves are managing their communications across diverse media. The business employs 20 staff with a mix of seasoned experience and bright young minds we would not want to swap. XXXXX

Job Description

We are looking for a full time web developer to expand our team. You will assist with website builds, plus maintaining existing projects and providing ongoing support.

This role calls for a good level of knowledge with PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, CSS and HTML but general knowledge of all surrounding web related technologies is also required. Long term professional experience is not necessary for candidates who have the correct skill set. This position is ideally suited for new graduates in the field who have a modest portfolio of PHP websites (these do not have to be commercial work).

Our development team has a close working relationship with the client and our designers throughout each project's lifespan so the ability to operate closely in a team and communicate ideas clearly is essential.

An ideal candidate will be looking to expand their knowledge of the industry so they can grow with the company and take on increasingly more complex projects.
