GBP35,027 rising to GBP36,870 after successful 6 month probation + generous benefits

Our Client is the membership body for Housing Associations in Wales. Their members provide homes and housing services to 10% of the Welsh population. Last year they invested over GBP1bn into the economy. Our Client`s job is to enable them to be brilliant. 28% of their surplus (GBP294k) is derived from their Business and Events activities and this surplus is essential to enable them to deliver on its strategic objectives.

As their Business and Events Manager you will be responsible for leading and managing their experienced team to deliver an innovative, timely and ambitious events and learning programme which meet targets. You`ll also be leading on their commercial strategy to ensure they maintain and develop our existing opportunities and whilst looking for new areas to benefit their members.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic individual, with strong communication skills and be effective at developing and maintaining relationships. You will have a can-do attitude, high attention to detail, enjoy working in a fast paced, multi project working environment, are at ease with working with budgets and reporting, have brilliant people management skills that allows your team to excel, and the drive and self-motivation to deliver strong results, embrace challenges and seize opportunities.

Objectives of the Post

To oversee Our Client`s events and commercial services to ensure that they:

- Provides an innovative and timely programme of learning and support products and events to improve knowledge and understanding for their members and meets agreed targets

- Continually maximises opportunities to deliver new services that meet their members` needs

- Empowers and motivates the team ensuring that their services/events are both commercially viable and member focused

Budget Responsibility

- To undertake delegated authority in respect of allocated budgets and to manage the team`s resources and budget.


Training and conferences

- To oversee the planning, co-ordination, monitoring, evaluation of all training, conference and commercial events offered by Our Client on a timely basis.
- To set targets and budgets annually and regularly report on progress.
- To oversee the co-ordination of conference programmes in liaison with key staff and stakeholders.


Commercial Opportunities

- To lead on the commercial strategy for Housing Jobs Wales.
- To lead on the commercial strategy for their partnership with Thistle Insurance.
- To identify and develop a pipeline of new commercial opportunities which add value to the membership.
- To maintain existing and grow new commercial memberships.
- To liaise with staff & members to identify viability of these commercial opportunities.
- To identify funding opportunities and where appropriate write funding bids.
