A peripatetic manager is required to work all over the UK - this is for a major UK care home provider with multiple care homes. Applicants must have flexibility to work at any of the the groups care homes depending on requirements.

Applicants must have significant experience of managing care homes and must have a hands-on approach to care management.

Generally a peripatetic manager would work for a few weeks at a time at a particular care home. (monday - friday generally) It may be covering for sick leave or awaiting the appoitment of a new manager.


The Peripatetic Manager will be responsible for the day to day running of a registered care home and who has overall responsibility for the running of the home and meeting it’s statement of purpose in the absence of a permanent Manager. The Peripatetic Manager must be qualified, competent and experienced to run the home and meet its stated purpose, aims and objectives.

The Peripatetic Manager’s approach should create an open, positive and inclusive atmosphere. The Peripatetic Manager is also responsible for demonstrating strong positive ideas about professional practice and right of the individuals (particularly privacy, independence and choice) and adhering to National Minimum Standards, and all relevant legislative requirements.

All potential applicants should note the following requirements:-

1. Evidence of at least 2 years senior management experience within a relevant care setting within the past 5 years

Is a first level registered nurse and has a relevant management qualification

2. The registered manager can demonstrate that he/she has undertaken periodic training to update his/her knowledge, skills and competence, whilst managing the home

3. Possession of the ENB 998 or 730 Courses (Teaching Certificates) Mentorship Course, would be useful when the Registered Person is required to provide teaching programmes for staff.

4. The applicant should have been in employment recently and show evidence of being up to date with current legislation, mandatory requirements and (something like current trends/working methods within the professional Care Industry)

5. All job holders with professional nursing or other professional qualifications must maintain their own professional competence in accordance with NMC code of conduct.
