Our client are looking for a multiskilled maintenance engineer to join their team in Northampton

They are looking for someone who has experience of working in plastics - ideally within an extrusion environment

Job Functions
-Perform planned mechanical maintenance work on all plant and machinery as
per planned maintenance schedule all the while ensuring availability of
production lines.
-Reactive breakdown and repairs to plant and machinery
-Particular attention to plant and extrusion machinery and equipment to deliver
increased quality and efficiencies.
-Check and report status of plant and extrusion machinery as a matter of
routine each morning.
-Trouble shooting and fault analysis, diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and
equipment based on observation of machinery and applying knowledge from
past experience.
-Participate in regular meetings with the maintenance supervisor and other
maintenance personnel to review status of all plant and machinery and to
formulate a schedule of work.
- Document, report and maintain maintenance activity records, including
completion of job cards, documenting completed PM’s and follow up action
etc.
-Complete and maintain documentation of plant machinery and equipment.
-Carry out continuous improvement tasks.
-Active involvement in CI – Continuous Improvement projects, e.g. to reduce
breakdowns, spares used, time taken etc
- Conducting basic electrical maintenance and repairs.
- Conduct basic welding and fabrication work as arises
- Conduct general facilities maintenance and repair work
- Maintain the maintenance and work areas in a safe, clean and organised
manner.
- Provide training to production teams in areas such as line adjustments, top 10
faults etc.,

Person Specification
-Must have completed an apprenticeship as a Mechanical Fitter along with 2-3
years as a Mechanical Fitter in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
- Sound working knowledge of the mechanical aspects of manufacturing plant
and machinery, ideally of plastics processing equipment, however knowledge
of gearboxes, drives, pumps, compressors, vacuum pumps and material
conveying systems are essential.
- Possess sound knowledge and proven competence in general maintenance
skills, such as fault analysis and problem solving skills essential for the
successful operation of the plant
- Ability to read operating manuals
- Possess the interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills needed to
carryout the function effectively and to liaise with Managers, Production
Supervisors and Extrusion and Tooling team members, Quality and other plant
functions.
- Possess fluent English, both verbal and written.

Other Skills Required
- Working knowledge of modern control systems
- Experience of AC & DC drive systems preferable
- Ability to operate conventional machine tools, including lathes, milling
machines, saws, grinders, hand tools and other related equipment as
appropriate.
- Basic welding and fabrication
- Working knowledge and experience with hydraulics & pneumatics
- Basic electrical skills
