Telecom Industry Newport, Wales

Principle Accountabilities / Objectives:

As a fast-growing international telecom company, Our client is recruiting a new SHEQ Manager for the head-office in Newport, Wales. You will be charged with achieving the department objectives in line with the corporate strategy and vision as well as driving continuous improvements.

The SHEQ Manager (Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality) will be accountable for the delivery of SHEQ objectives, advice and support to Operations, liaise and assist all stakeholders to ensure compliance with SHEQ legal obligations and follow their defined Quality systems.

The SHEQ Manager will be expected to carry out any other duties that fall within the scope of the position.

Principle accountabilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

- Implementation, management and monitoring of standards including BS OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Safe-Contractor.
- Drive to deliver continual improvements across the company.
- Provide support and advice to any part of the business on SHEQ issues as deemed necessary, and to ensure that our SHEQ policies and any local guidance are fully aligned, in order that no conflict or confusion exists.
- Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are correctly reported and investigated in accordance with the SHEQ policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all SHEQ reporting requirements are provided accurately and in a timely manner.
- Conduct site safety inspections and audits as required and ensure that appropriate action plans have been put into place by the assigned owners.
- Conduct regular reviews on corrective actions arising from incidents, inspections and audits.
- Support internal and external SHEQ audit programmes.


Competency/Skills/Knowledge/Qualifications:- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
- IEMA certificate or equivalent.
- Working understanding of SHEQ legislation.
- Working knowledge of BS OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
- Desirable - experience of working in Europe.
- Demonstrate ownership, pro-activity and deliver key objectives.
- Good oral and written communicator.
- Good training skills and ability for public speaking.
- Ability to positively influence others.
- Previous experience in telecommunications or related field an advantage.
- PC literate, especially the full Microsoft Office suite and preferably Microsoft SharePoint.
- Excellent standard of written and spoken English. Language skills an advantage.

Working Environment:

The position of SHEQ Manager will be expected to work out of the Magor head-quarters. Occasional UK/Global travel will be required. There is flexibility to work from home on occasion.
