Structural Engineer / Civil Engineer

Location: Rochester, ME2 2BF

Position: Permanent, Full Time, 37.5 hours /week

Salary: GBP25,000 - GBP35,000 /year dependent on experience

We are now looking for a full time Structural Engineer / Civil Engineer, with AUTOCAD experience to join our growing business.


Responsible for the production of calculations, drawings and sketches for various permanent and temporary structural scheme designs varying from large new builds, demolition, extensions and alterations.

- Consulting Engineer, Supervisors and Co-Ordinators
- Relevant with the current design codes for steel, concrete, unreinforced masonry and timber i.e British Standards.
- Deal with clients such as borough council, architects, home owners, property developers both directly and via phone calls, as well as attending site meetings to have up to date information on projects.

Experienced in designing various:

Temporary works structures:

- Facade Retention -Tower and walings
- Various Access Scaffold & Gantry Structures
- Sheet Piling Design
- Piling Platform / Mat Design
- Needle Shoring & Propping Design
- Tower Crane Bases/ Foundation & Hoist
- Mobile Crane Outrigger Load Check
- Temporary Support for Basement design
- Falsework & Formwork Design
- Others - Hoarding, Mortar Silo Base, Site Cabin Base
- Category 2 & 3 Checks
- Floor Load Test

Permanent structures;

- Foundation Design - Pads & Ground Beams
- Domestic & Commercial Premises Conversions
- Steel Frame, Beam, Columns & Connection
- Timber Frame Design
- Retaining Wall


- Full UK Driving License (Manual)
- Minimum 2-3 years` experience in structural design mainly residential building e.g. Loft conversion, side, rear extension, Foundation design, steel element designs & connection. Must be able to design all structural element in timber, steel & concrete. Must be able to use AutoCAD.
- Must be able to visit site, take measurements, produce reports and preliminary design. Must be able to relate with clients, contractors & building control if required.
