Job Description

The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Works Superintendent for our clients Daventry site, where the successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and progressing individual work and projects through the workshop.

Part of your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to;

• To manage and motivate shop floor personnel regarding daily work related tasks
• Plan each individual job and complete quality planning sheets
• Communicate to the workshop personnel the work related tasks
• To communicate efficiently with customers, confirming agreements
• Communicate with the management and design personnel
• Take a role in monitoring and training/coaching apprentices in craft and technical skills i.e. use of machine tools and processes
• Organise the shifts teams according to the workload
• Assist in managing the workshop housekeeping, maintenance and safety with a view of constant improvement

The Person

To be successful in your application you will posses a good mechanical technical aptitude with the ability and drive to solve engineering problems alongside the technical experience relevant to general machining and workshop practises. You will also have knowledge of Carbon steels, Stainless Steel, Phosphorus Bronze etc and their uses.

In terms of your qualifications you will have served a recognised apprenticeship in mechanical engineering relevant to the manufacturing, maintenance or repair environment.
City in Guilds qualifications or equivalent or an ONC/ HNC/NCQ or equivalent would be preferable.

In addition you will have had Health and Safety training, possess strong communication skills, good knowledge and experience of IT skills and have proven Management/Supervision experience as well as strong organisational and project management skills.
