JOB PURPOSE

Our client is a 20 year old young woman with an acquired brain injury sustained from a road traffic accident. She is currently studying a degree in Psychology and Counselling at Swansea Metropolitan University and is returning home for the Easter holidays.

Due to her accident, a Support Worker is required to support our client through Easter break, help her engage in social activities, help with planning and organisation day etc.

Our Clients interests include swimming, cinema, going out for meals, arts and crafts. It would be useful if the successful support worker had similar interests.

It is preferable that applicants have knowledge and proven experience of supporting an individual with an acquired brain injury

We desire applicants within the age range of 25-35, who have a background or currently studying, Occupational Therapy or Psychology or Community Services.

The hours of employment will be 15 hours over a two - three week period. We are looking for someone who is willing to be flexible.

We are looking for someone that is deally available at Easter 30th March - 24th April.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To help and support the client with her current methods of managing of daily life.

2. To encourage the client to recognise and use her strengths, in planning and organising her time and social needs.

3. To keep accurate written records as directed by the case manger.

Person Specification:

We require a Support Worker with excellent communication skills. Applicants must be able to maintain a calm approach when dealing with difficult situations. The ability to pre-empt a difficult situation and to act promptly to reduce risk will be a key attribute in this role, therefore we are looking to recruit a candidate with initiative, patience, sensitivity and good problem solving skills.

It will be essential the applicant had access to their own transport.
