If you have experience in working with young people; whether that be in Education, Social Work, Youth Services or similar we`d be interested in hearing from you.
Part of a well-established and successful team, the Supported Housing Officer role is based in Welwyn at our Foyer, which provides temporary supported accommodation for young single people between the ages of 16-25 years. In this role you will develop a targeted support plan for each young person you work with, focusing on all aspects of independent living skills and personal development, building confidence & competence for people to be the best versions of themselves. Initiating targeted learning opportunities and involvement in Foyer community events, ensuring all aspects of housing licence management are met.
About you: Ideally with some relevant experience in a similar role; what`s most important is your affinity and ability to connect with young people, to understand and actively communicate, signpost and support. The work is rewarding as you will build relationships with our young people and support them in areas such as education, work, practical life skills ie budgeting, cooking, healthy living and independence, enabling them to thrive and unlock their full potential.
You will be a true team player, ideally with a good working knowledge and experience of benefits and eligibility and Local Authority partnering. You should be a strong confident & calm communicator who can deal with and defuse sometimes challenging situations. With a positive outlook, good problem-solving skills, persuasive, with the desire to believe in, empower and empathise with young people You should have an overriding passion to inspire and motivate vulnerable young people to reach their potential. A relevant qualification in support or working with young people is desirable, but attitude and aptitude are more important. Please note this post will requires a DBS check.
Working hours: We are really flexible with regard to working pattern; 37 hours p/w to be worked between the hours of 9am and 9.30pm Mon-Fri with voluntary weekend working. There is an on-call rota in which you will expected to participate one week in four (for which there is additional pay). You must have a current driving licence (preferably clean) and your own transport, there is free parking on site.
